About the show PAWÒL CHOUCHOUN
PAWÒL CHOUCHOUN the hottest and most Caribbean version of Eve Ensler’s Obi award-winning play “The Vagina Monologues”, adapted by Florence Jean-Louis Dupuy, will be presented on Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016, 7PM at Brooklyn College Center for the Performing Arts.
Original texts: Eve Ensler - Direction/adaptation: Florence Jean-Louis Dupuy. Starring: Cynthia Jean-Louis, Fabienne Colimon, Florence Jean-Louis Dupuy, Ange Belie Andou and Huguette St-Fleur.
Based on interviews with over 200 women about their memories and experiences of sexuality, The Vagina Monologues (PAWÒL CHOUCHOUN) is made up of a number of monologues performed by a varying number of women. Each of the monologues deals with an aspect of the feminine experience, touching on matters such as sex, love, female genital mutilation, rape, orgasm, menstruation, masturbation, birth, the various common names for the vagina, or simply as a physical aspect of the body. A recurring theme throughout the piece is the vagina as a tool of female empowerment, and the ultimate embodiment of individuality.
